About Us
Church of the Holy Nativity
Our vision:
"to become a community so joyful, so dynamic, so alive with the Good News of Jesus Christ that it draws people in, transforms them, and, in so doing, changes the world'
We are a body of believers committed to loving and serving God. As part of the Episcopal Church, and a member of the world-wide Anglican communion, we join with like-minded Christians in spreading the gospel - the good news message of God's love and mercy, as given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - into our community, our state, our country and around the globe.
Our mission, 'reaching out, touching hearts, changing lives' is more than just a catchy phrase. We hope that it gives you insight into just who we are.
Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds with the Good News of God's amazing love and, at Church of the Holy Nativity, we desire to do the same. That's why you'll discover ministries here that are geared to various life stages and needs. We have a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities. Children and youth are especially important to us. We make every effort to have the best programs and teachers available in order to pass on this Good News that has been given to us.
We want you to be a part of the blessings of God in the life of our church. We'll bring you updates often through this website on just what's happening at Church of the Holy Nativity and share the stories of how Christ is making a difference in - and yes, even changing - people's lives.
***WHAT WE BELIEVE:
Our God is a living God. We believe that God is real and active, creating and sustaining the universe by power and freedom, and communicating withus out of unlimited holy love so that we may share his joy. God is infinitely more than a thought in our minds or a set of values for human beings.
Our God is an incarnate God. We believe that God the eternal Son became human for our sake and that in the flesh and blood of Jesus of Nazareth God was uniquely present and active. All claims to knowledge of God must be brought to Christ to be tested. Through Christ alone we have access to the Father. We believe that Christ's Resurrection is the act of God in raising to life the whole identity and reality of Jesus. We believe that it is not simply a perception or interpretation based on the subjective experience of the apostles.
Our God is a triune God. We believe that by the gift of the Holy Spirit bestowed throught the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are able to share the eternal intimacy and delight which is the very life of God in the mutual love of three divine persons.
Our God is a faithful God. We believe that God is always as he shows himself to be in Jesus. In Holy Scripture we have a unique, trustworthy record of the acts and promises of God. No other final criteria for Christian teaching can supplant this witness to the self consistency of God through the ages.
Our God is a saving and serving God. We believe that God calls us into the Church and commissions us to proclaim and work in active hope for the dawning of God's kingdom in the world.
